Once Upon a Jam...
In few days the Global Sustainable Jam will takes place all over the world (from the 21st to the 23rd of November)… in Milano too!!!
What is a JAM?? “Imagine a Jam session in music. You come together, bringing your instruments, your skills, your open mind. Someone sets up a theme, and you start to Jam around it. You don’t overanalyse it, you don’t discuss it to death, you Jam. You bounce your ideas off other people, and play around with what comes back. Together, you build something which none of you could have built alone. […] The Global Service Jam works in just the same way. But it’s not music you are Jamming – it’s ideas.” (From Global Service Jam-Official Website)
In a spirit of experimentation, innovation, co-operation and friendly competition, teams will have less than 48 hours (a weekend) to develop and prototype completely new services inspired by a shared theme (that won’t be uncovered till the really beginning of the weekend session). At the end a new collection of brand new services will be published to the world. So it’s not a conference, it’s not a networking group, it’s not a discussion group and it’s not a start-up events. Oh well, it’s not only that. The best part of it is that it’s a global event: multiple locations, worldwide, jamming to the same beat!!
What happens with all the ideas and concept in the end?? All prototypes and the projects documentation will be published on the GSJ platform. All concepts and ideas are published under the creative common licencing and owned by their creators but available for further development if applicable.
I have personally participated to the Serice Jam Berlin – Jaming for GROWth and I can honestly say I HAD A BLAST!! Jamming is a very powerful and fun activity, that leaved me with great energies and positive attitude after the weekend. It brought to me a brand new perspective on how to problem-solve and get things done in an effective way. The great thing about the jam is that we blend working sessions with gaming and super fun ones. For a weekend you are free to follow whatever process you prefer to create and develop a project as long as you do and not talk (such a difficult thing when reality comes in)!! The ideas that you can develop have no limits, even the craziest one is valuable.
