Internet of Things: Shaping New Service Models

Today began our module on Emerging Technology, where we’ll be exploring four different arguments that are shaping new service models and experiences: Internet of Things (IoT), Artificial Intelligence (AI), Virtual Reality (VR) & Metaverse, and Blockchain. 

Our first session was focused on IoT, taught by Alessandro Redondi, an Associate Professor at the Dipartimento di Elettronica, Informazione e Bioingegneria, Politecnico di Milano. He shared his expertise in IoT system design and optimization and network data analytics, helping us gain a better understanding of the topic. The session was structured to reel in students through theoretical content followed by practical exercise whereby students had to create a simple IoT App, using MQTT Protocols and the Thingspeak platform, aimed at helping apply the concepts learned in a real-world setting.

As we move forward in this module, we look forward to exploring the other three emerging technologies in depth, and gaining a comprehensive understanding of their potential impact on the industry.
