Exploring Service Evaluation thanks to Francesca Foglieni
Having reached this stage during the didactic path, the students of the Specializing Master have become familiar with the subject of Service Design and experienced first-hand the detection and subsequent creation and management of services. But how does a service designer assess the value and the impact of the service that has been designed?
Service Evaluation’s pill aims to introduce the topic of service evaluation as an emerging field of study for the Service Design discipline. During the module, students will be provided with key concepts of the evaluation practice, fostering reflections on the role that evaluation can have throughout the different phases of the service design process. This latter encompasses a broad area of reasoning, from defining the problem designers are trying to solve, to the steps required to bring about change, from measuring the effect of the service to the benefit provided and the long-term goals, in order to reach an impact.
In particular, Francesca Foglieni introduces some key methods for (service) evaluation, starting from traditional tools, prosecuting with a criteria for the evaluation of service concepts and notions of impact assessment, applying it to projects already developed by students during previous modules. Afterward, the students will measure themselves with the Theory of Change in a strong Milanese reality brief, pretending to be part of the Policy Area.
Let’s discover the evaluations and strategies implemented during this module.
