Discover service design basics
Francesca Foglieni and Beatrice Villari officially begin the lectures season of the XI edition with an introduction to Service Design Basics.
This class is the first module of the Master program which provides students with theory and key concepts of service design, service innovation, and the related design process. It includes a mix of lectures, discussions, and exercises to give students an overview of the disciplines.
Students approach the history, definition, and key terms of Service Design, reasoning about design objects, specific elements, and phases to be considered when creating a service. In particular, the teachers emphasize the shift towards service economy and the service-dominant logic. Professors, also, show the role of service design principles and design thinking in the service design process.
What’s more, students are introduced to the importance of different perspectives in the design process, discussing multidisciplinary contributions and highlighting the line of field boundaries. To sum up, this class sows the seeds of understanding Service Design and getting ready for the following modules.
